Primo Cast Iron Charcoal Divider
The Primo Firebox Divider is made of heavy cast iron and lets you split your Primo Grill's firebox into two distinct cooking zones for simultaneous direct and indirect cooking. The Firebox Divider also helps conserve natural lump charcoal during smaller cooks.
Primo Firebox Divider Features
- Tailored to fit the Primo Oval Grill
- Creates two cooking zones in your grill
- Quality Cast Iron Finish
What is Indirect Grilling?
Indirect Grilling is more similar to baking or roasting than direct grilling. This method requires that the “fire” be built off to the side of where the cooking will take place. This is the heated side. You then place the food you wish to grill indirectly on the unheated side and close the lid. Convection and radiant heat will then cook the food. Since the food is not being exposed to direct heat from the fire, it will cook more evenly and be less likely to burn on the exposed side. Of course, this also means that it will cook more slowly. For example, smoked ribs, brisket, tenderloin, smoked burgers and more.
Why do we love this product?
It makes the Primo very, very versatile. With the cast iron divider, you can create a fire on one side of the firebox but not the other – this is unique to the Primo Grill. It makes the Primo Grill Smoker the most diverse of all kamado cookers; you can cook both directly and indirectly at the same time. Can you imagine searing a steak on one side while cooking your veggies at a lower heat on the other side? This is a must-have.
